During our initial, 90-minute consultation, we’ll review your concerns and your goals for therapy, explore some of your history and background, and discuss the therapy process and my policies. By the end, you’ll probably know whether you feel comfortable working with me and want to continue. If you prefer, I’ll be glad to offer you a referral.

Typically, we'll meet weekly for an hour, or more often if warranted. Regular sessions are particularly helpful early in therapy. By addressing issues on a regular basis, we will create momentum and lay the groundwork for positive change. In my experience, people who come to therapy weekly tend to feel better sooner, stick with therapy until they’re ready to “fly solo,” and retain the gains they achieve.
In our meetings, I’ll help you learn techniques for better problem-solving, communication, stress management, and emotional wellbeing. A key goal will be incorporating your new skills into your day-to-day, “real” life outside the therapy office. In other words, we’ll work hard on moving from insight and understanding to action. The aim is for you to see and feel positive changes as you put your knowledge into practice.
Office Hours: I try to make myself available when it's convenient for you, including evening hours.
Privacy: If you're concerned about privacy, I can arrange appointment times when it’s possible for you to enter and leave my office directly, at the rear of the building, thus avoiding the waiting room.
